Privacy Policy — Auspo Scan
Last updated: 7 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Auspo Scan app
(package com.auspo.camscanner, the “App”), published by Auspo Apps
(“we”, “us”), handles information when you use it.
- You do not create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- Your scans stay on your phone. We have no server that receives them, and text recognition runs on the device. A document leaves your phone only when you share, print or back it up.
- The App is free and supported by ads. It shows ads, reports crashes, records anonymous usage statistics and fetches remote settings, and it can send notifications. Those services are run by third parties who collect device and advertising identifiers; they are listed in full below.
- An optional one-time purchase removes the ads.
Information stored on your device
Everything you create stays in the App's own private storage area, which other apps on your device cannot read, and is not sent to us:
- Scanned pages — the original capture and the processed version are written to the App's internal storage. They are not saved to your camera roll or to shared storage.
- Document names, folders, page order and saved signatures — held in a local database on the device.
- Recognised text and QR results — produced on the device and shown to you; kept only where you choose to save them.
- Your settings — default filter, page size, export quality, theme, which tips you have dismissed, and whether ads have been removed.
- Temporary copies — when you share, print or export, the App writes a copy into its own cache so another app can receive it. You can clear these from Settings → Temporary files → Clear.
Deleting the App removes all of it.
Information collected by third-party services
The App includes the following services. Each one is operated by the company named, under its own privacy policy, and each may collect information automatically when you use the App. None of them receives your scans, the text recognised from them, or the contents of your documents.
- Google AdMob (Google) — displays banner and interstitial ads. Collects your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device model and operating system, and information about the ads you are shown and interact with.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — records anonymous usage events: which screens you open, when a scan starts, when a page is captured, when a document is saved or a PDF is shared, when you rate or share the App, and your consent choices. It also stores properties such as the App version and your device language.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — collects crash reports and diagnostic data, including the screen that was open when a crash happened, so we can fix it.
- Firebase Remote Config (Google) — fetches settings such as the links to this policy, so we can adjust the App without shipping an update.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — issues a push notification token for your installation so the App can deliver notifications.
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — signs your installation in anonymously. This creates a random identifier for the installation that the analytics services share. It holds no name, email address or other personal detail, and you are never asked to log in.
- Mixpanel (Mixpanel, Inc.) — product analytics. Receives the same kind of anonymous usage events and properties as Firebase Analytics.
- Meta SDK (Meta Platforms) — automatic app event logging is enabled, and the SDK is configured to collect your device's advertising identifier. This is used for advertising measurement and attribution.
- Google Play Billing & RevenueCat (Google; RevenueCat, Inc.) — process the optional one-time “Remove ads” purchase. Google Play takes the payment; we never receive your card or payment details. RevenueCat receives a random identifier for your installation, the purchase token and receipt issued by Google Play, and basic device and app information, which is how the purchase is recognised and restored if you reinstall.
- Google ML Kit (Google) — powers text recognition and barcode scanning on the device. Google Play services downloads the recognition models and may process technical device information in doing so; the pages you scan are not uploaded for recognition.
- Google Play In-App Review (Google) — shows the Play Store's own rating prompt inside the App.
See Google's Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from AdMob, Mixpanel's Privacy Policy, Meta's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Permissions the App requests
- Camera — to capture pages and to read QR codes and barcodes. The camera is active only while a scanning screen is open. Preview frames are processed on the device and are not recorded; only the shots you deliberately capture are saved.
- Flashlight — to use the torch while scanning in low light.
- Internet and network state — to load ads, report crashes, send anonymous statistics, fetch settings, and let Google Play services download the recognition models.
- Advertising ID — read by the advertising and analytics services listed above.
- Notifications — optional. You are asked once, and you can decline or turn notifications off later in your device settings. Declining does not limit the App in any way.
- Photos and files — the App holds no photo or storage permission. Import, Files and Backup all use Android's own pickers, which grant access only to the items or folder you choose. The App cannot browse your photo library.
You can withdraw camera or notification access in Android Settings. The related feature stops working; nothing else is affected.
Advertising and consent
The App is free and paid for by advertising. Ads may be personalised using your advertising identifier. You can reset or delete that identifier, and opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings under Settings → Google → Ads. Where the law requires it — including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time from Settings → Privacy & ad consent inside the App.
Ads are shown around the App's screens, never on top of your documents, and the advertising services never receive their contents. The one-time Remove ads purchase turns ads off permanently on that Google account; it can be restored from Settings if you reinstall.
Sharing, printing and backup
These are the only ways a document leaves your device, and each one is something you start:
- Share — you choose the destination app. What happens to the file afterwards is governed by that app's own policy.
- Print — handled by Android's print framework and the print service you select.
- Backup — you pick a destination folder using Android's file picker. If you choose a folder belonging to a cloud service such as Google Drive or OneDrive, your files are written there and that provider's terms and privacy policy apply. The App never sees or stores your cloud sign-in.
Deleting your data
- Delete an individual page, document, folder or saved signature inside the App.
- Clear shared and exported copies from Settings → Temporary files → Clear. This does not touch your scans.
- Clear the App's storage from Android Settings, or uninstall the App — both remove every scan, document and setting from the device permanently.
- Reset or delete your advertising identifier in device settings; information already collected by the third-party services above is retained under their own policies.
Because your documents are never stored off the device, uninstalling leaves no copy of them with us or anyone else. Files you have already shared, printed or backed up elsewhere are outside the App's reach and must be removed wherever you sent them.
Children
Auspo Scan is a general-purpose utility intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at auspoapps@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Change your ad consent at any time from Settings → Privacy & ad consent in the App.
- Reset or delete your advertising identifier, and opt out of ad personalisation, in device settings.
- Turn notifications off at any time in device settings.
- Remove ads with the one-time purchase.
- Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA in California — you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information relating to you. Because we operate no accounts and hold no directly identifying information ourselves, most such requests concern the third-party services listed above. Email us at auspoapps@gmail.com and we will help where we can.
- We do not sell personal information.
Data retention and security
Information held on your device stays until you delete it, clear the App's data or uninstall. Information collected by the third-party services above is retained under their own policies. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
